I think I’ve spent about two hours looking through old photos from 2016 and I’m a wreck at seeing my babies as babies and watching my tummy grow towards the end of the year (with Olive!). Gosh, 2016 was a year of ambitious changes and adventure. Fitting too, as per the zodiac—apparently 2016 was the year of the yin fire monkey, known for change and adventure! We started the year off with my family in Seattle (one of my most favourite memories with my dad, where he just pulled over every time Pippa said, “I wanna play in the snow!” on our drive home from Snoqualmie 😂); continued on with Elsie’s burn management with a custom compression sleeve; shot one of my final weddings; found out we were pregnant with Olive and the girls would be big sisters; became an auntie again with the birth of my sister’s 2nd son Emmitt; completed my Masters in Education and got my first contract co-teaching a grade 3/4 class twice a week, so obviously I had to take a selfie of me in my first classroom!; took a scouting trip to Vanuatu as we found out Clint got his first posting there and we would move in April 2017; documented Pippa’s love of maths workbooks (it started at a young age, people-the Asian force is strong in this one 😂); visited Clint in the ER after he dislocated his shoulder (again) playing touch footy during lunchtime against the Attorney General’s Dept 😂; hosted my sister, her boys and our mom in Canberra; did a lot of camping (as one does when pregnant— thank you honey for inflating a queen size air mattress and carrying it to each of our camping sites for me so I could be comfy😂); napped most days with Elsie cuddling my tummy as she was so excited for her little sister (10 years on and her obsession with Olive as has not relented, much to Olive’s mounting exhaustion and pleas of “no more cuddles, Elsie!!!”); and ended the year in Adelaide with Clint’s family for a hot, summery, strawberry-picking Christmas. ❤️ I remember all of these memories like they were yesterday.
