A Moon Eating Monster! It was a crystal clear evening on the summit of Haleakala crater in Maui, Hawaii. At altitude of 10,000ft (3050m) it’s one of the best spots for stargazing in the US National Parks. The crescent moon was setting behind an odd-looking cloud on the horizon. From earlier at dusk (slides 2-3) this towering cumulus cloud was forming all kids of strange shapes and by midnight it grew to a thunderstorm supercell. Encounters and sounds from the Arctic sea ice. The last 12 months of my career have had some truly once in a lifetime moments documenting Polar Bears in the marginal ice zone, situated just south of the North Pole. I have been preparing for an upcoming exhibition and decided to put a series of these moments together, giving a broader window into the life of these magnificent creatures in one of the harshest and most remote environments on the planet. All of these scenes were captured during ship-based expeditions across the Arctic.
