In 2020, designers Riccardo Fornoni and Charlotte Taylor collaborated to create digital renderings of a coastal home named “Villa Saraceni” in Sicily. The project envisioned a structure carved directly into the white cliffs of Scala dei Turchi. The serene scenes featured minimalist rooms and a low wooden coffee table. 🌊 Because the images were highly realistic, thousands of people believed the cliffside retreat actually existed. Many viewers contacted the creators to book a stay at the location. The designers had to clarify that the home was an entirely digital creation meant for virtual escapism. The widespread fascination with the project showed a deep collective longing for peace and natural beauty during a time of global isolation.
