We started dating in 2009 despite the fact that we both had only dated people of the opposite sex and same race prior to our relationship. . . . We fought hard for our love during those first few years of coming out 🏳️‍🌈 to friends and family. It was pretty rocky with family at first but we persevered. We are so grateful for the relationships we have with our family now, it’s beautiful and truly unconditional. We took big chances and bet on us through it all! . . . We got engaged in 2012, purchased a home the summer of 2013, and got married next summer in 2014. At that time same sex marriage was only legal in 7 states and NC wasn’t one of them. Luckily this changed just a few months after in our home state. We saved like crazy to pay for everything (💍🏡👰🏼‍♀️👰🏾) on our own. . . . Leah became Dr. Faustin after graduating with her DPT, then I started a PhD program right after we got married. 🧑🏼‍🎓👩🏾‍💻 #DrFaustinx2 . . .
