Every fauji wife holds her collection of sarees like medals…. Chiffons … crepe’s… silks ….georgettes ….cottons …. Every single saree holds a deep meaning!! Souvenirs which she collects over all the wonderful years spent being a part of this beautiful fraternity…I bet if you ask an army wife 30 years from now she would remember exactly when she bought the saree … from which shop and during which tenure ….. that’s how deeply our love for sarees is embedded in our hearts . BUT .then .there are a few sarees which are more nostalgia than collectibles…. More memory than purchases and feel like a warm hug just when you miss someone a wee bit more. . While we were a part of the 79th staff course.A certain ladies meet of 80th staff course made me bring out a saree which I had hid in the corner of my saree box for the longest time.A pure chiffon bandhej The saree which you see here was actually my father’s “Safa” A “Safa” for all who do not know is a traditional Rajput headgear worn on special occasions.my mother bought this for my papa with a lot of love for my elder sisters wedding….
