The hike is remote, and once you’re out there, you’re on your own. No services, no safety net, definitely no pit toilets. It gets hot (like extremely hot), so bring way more water than you think you’ll need. As good as the river looks, the water tastes terrible—even if you filter it. This is Navajo Nation land, with deep cultural and spiritual significance to the Hopi, Zuni, and Hualapai peoples. Be respectful, follow the rules, and pack everything out.
