🎓 10 Years in the Making! 🎓 In 2012, I took the first step toward earning my Master’s degree when I was accepted into the NYU Corporate Communications program. I was filled with excitement, ambition, and hope. But life had other plans. Around the same time, I got married, and what should have been a supportive partnership turned into a nightmare. My ex-husband was abusive and controlling, and I tried his best to stop me from going back to school. As fate would have it, I soon found out I was pregnant. The stress of the relationship and the demands of becoming a new mom became overwhelming, and I had to take a step back. Despite my determination to finish, life kept throwing obstacles in my path. For years, the unfinished Master’s hung over me like a dark cloud. It wasn’t just about not having the degree—it was about the promise I made to myself, and most importantly, I felt compelled to finish what I had started. Getting back into the NYU program was futile even with only 9 credits left to complete it, and so in 2020, and with the pandemic looming, I decided to pivot. I chose a path that challenged me like never before: a Master’s in Business Management @illinois1867 . With no prior experience in business, it was completely outside my comfort zone, but I knew it was the right choice to round out my career in marketing (which I am pretty darn good at might I add). It took me four years of juggling classes, a full-time job, and being a mom and partner, but here I am—finally graduating. THANK YOU, LORD. I DID IT! To those who feel stuck or defeated, let my story be a reminder: It’s never too late to rise above adversity and reclaim your path.
