Starting on June 7, 2026, Zion National Park will enforce existing size and weight limits on the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway. These restrictions will affect large vehicles between Canyon Junction and the East Entrance. These limits are based on two safety studies from 1989 and 2019, which concluded that large vehicles cannot safely traverse the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway and tunnel. So, what is a “large vehicle?” 🚚 Any vehicle taller than 11 feet 4 inches, wider than 7 feet 10 inches, heavier than 50,000 pounds, or longer than 35 feet 9 inches 🚧 for combined vehicles, such as trucks with trailers, the total length of the configuration cannot exceed 50 feet. Trailers cannot exceed 26 feet in length, from hitch to rear axle. Vehicles that exceed these dimensions will have to take alternative routes, like nearby state highways.
